On Fridays the pub serves food until around 6:30. There's usually someone upstairs from 5:00. Activities start after tea, about 8:00 - ish. The Group is a social meeting point for all fans of science and speculative fiction and fantasy, in whatever form. It’s been going for many years, sometimes just a few people chatting in the pub, sometimes a larger more formal group. We’re not just for people in Sheffield, if you can get here, you’re welcome. We have regular attenders from Warrington, Manchester, Liverpool, Nottingham, Leicester, and Birmingham. The August meeting this year included fans from Dorset and Glasgow. We do have loosely organized activities on the Friday nights – things like repeats of popular convention items, quizzes, auctions, readings, re-creations of radio dramas, mini-film fests. But the main focus is social. There are also other activities. We attend conventions regularly, details of the main ones are included on the calendar below. Some of us meet up to play games, go out for meals, BBQs. There is an annual late summer outing, and a mid-winter party. There are murmurings that we might put together a fanzine. A lot of us are conrunners, and we include committee members from Contemplation 2007 and LX 2009.
